Before Maison Margiela, there was simply the designer eponymous... Maison Martin Margiela. And that is the iconic label that graces this ensemble suit... a blank white label and the darted four point signal on the back of his pieces. This pantsuit was probably made between '97-99 based on similar styles from that time. This is an incredible avant-garde piece...so much so, one could argue it belongs in a museum as an ode to the inner workings of a genius mind- tattered, frayed, asymmetric, missing button holes and clasps... this is the fully functional version of incomplete-ness. This is the designer's statement on the process of fashion, the details that go into making a "finished" piece with the ultimate statement of being "unfinished". Ironically, all incomplete aspects of this suit are extremely intentional. Extra leg fabric is added on one pant leg with a snap closure... on the same leg, the front leg is ripped to reveal intentional fraying. The bare hook clasp on the waist band is a metal eyesore but somehow looks great paired with the line-work on the pants. While one half of the suit jacket is complete with shoulder padding, strait lapels and sleeves, the other side is torn, frayed, intentionally made to be in the likes of a vest that experienced its share of manipulation. 

Simply, this piece is art. Highly collectible, a sure example of Margiela's house of daring art statements, broken down into their bare bones and the charm that comes with such boldness. Excellent condition. Jacket labeled 42. Pants labeled 40. Approximate US size 6.
